Matt started his music career as a teen in southern California, playing in various punk and metal bands. He quickly thought himself every instrument he could get his hands on in order to play with as many bands as possible. After a few years of this, he grew tired of "band life" and went solo playing every coffee shop and open mic night he could find. Feeling like there was something missing from the lyrical content of his music, he stumbled upon the likes of The Carter Family, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. In those artists, he found the gloomy and dark lyrical content that he used in the punk and metal bands he was in. This sparked a new life for him.
After many stage names and demo recordings, he found that he couldn't get a gig anywhere. The country bars and clubs called him "too dark" or "too goth" to play there and the goth and punk clubs found him "too country". After being begged my his manager, he bit the bullet and put a band together, went into the studio and recorded what would end up being called, "The Untimely Death of Spade 13". The year long studio sessions destroyed the band and they called it quits before the album was mixed.
Over the years, he would record an album and give it to those close to him. From 2002-2004 he was a mainstay at coffee houses and bars in the Orange County area. He toured the west coast many times over the next few years and finally ended up in the southern California mountains.
His newest album, KILLIN', is 10 tracks of murder, remorse and retribution. It is raw, it is dark and it is country-folk at it's deepest level. KILLIN' will haunt you.
